I want to “thank” the Butler School Board for once again “biting the bullet, making the tough call,” and raising taxes again. These people have no idea what the word “austerity” means.
I am retired, living on a fixed income, but the school tax millage keeps being increased.
Cities and townships have a limit on how much they can tax, but not the school districts. School districts never have to live within a budget; they just go to get more money.
In Western Pennsylvania, many school districts are cutting back and laying off. Not here.
Beyond not replacing retirees, the board chooses to just keep the status quo — cutting little and raising the real estate tax.
The people of the Butler School District should be outraged.
