Won't give up fight

In his May 18 letter to the editor, James Matson agreed with a May 1 letter written by Don Lowry in support of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.

“Not every baby is a ‘gift from God’. . . Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and Adolf Hitler were all ‘gifts from God’ we could have done without,” Matson wrote.

Life is in fact a gift from God. We are responsible for what we do with life.

We are all sinners by nature. We are not sinners because we sin. We sin because we are sinners.

God gave Hitler life. Hitler made choices.

Hitler chose a path that led to the deaths of 50 million people. By supporting abortion, Matson has approved, applauded and promoted the deaths of 57 million babies in the United States alone.

Shame on him.

Does Matson think he’s moral, upright and good — perhaps a pillar of the community? During World War II, Capt. Wolfgang Hoffman, a dedicated German soldier, disobeyed an order from the high command. He refused to sign a declaration that would obligate him to steal, plunder or take anything without paying for it.

Is it not ironic that Hoffman, a zealous murderer of Jews, believed himself to be a man of high moral character?

He would not steal because to him a German soldier was above such behavior. But without hesitation he could brutally murder other human beings — men, women, children, infants — with no guilt.

All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). That is why we need a Savior — to bear our guilt and provide a righteousness we cannot earn.

Abortion, the “law of the land”? So was slavery.

“The majority of the American people”? I doubt the validity of that assertion, but even if it were true, majorities have been known to be wrong.

I and others will never give up the fight against the murder of children.
