2 women dead, another seriously injured in crash

MUDDY CREEK TWP — State police are investigating a head-on crash late Wednesday afternoon that killed two women and left another with serious injuries.
Kendra Proctor, 22, of Oil City, Venango County, and Ruth Leidecker, 88, of Wexford died later that evening at Pittsburgh hospitals of injuries in the collision on Route 19 just south of Bauder School Road.
Sherlaine Kowalski, 72, of Gibsonia, meanwhile, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police said Proctor was traveling north on Route 19 about 5:05 p.m. when her 2003 Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and hit an oncoming 2007 Ford Five Hundred driven by Kowalski.
Leidecker was a passenger in Kowalski’s car.
Portersville and Harmony volunteer fire departments used rescue tools to free the occupants from the wreckage. The occupants were semi-conscious when first treated by a Harmony EMS crew.
Kowalski is being treated at UPMC Presbyterian for what police called major injuries.
Police say they are still seeking information about the crash, and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.
