JACKSON TWP — Two warehouse buildings are nearing completion and work on a third building may start soon as part of the changing landscape at Jackson’s Pointe Commerce Park near the intersection of Route 19 and Lindsay Road.
One of the those buildings will be occupied by UPS and the other is expected to house multiple tenants, according to township officials.
The developers have not identified potential tenants for the third building.
Representatives from the property’s developer, the Buncher Co. of Pittsburgh, did not return calls seeking comment.
In September 2010, the township supervisors approved construction of five flex warehouse buildings there.
The flex warehouse/commerce park is designed for five buildings of 352,000 square feet total space on nearly 55 acres.
Jay Grinnell, supervisors chairman, pointed out that recent land development ordinance changes now allow the developer to consolidate two of his buildings into one single larger building if desired.
Flex space includes office space combined with other functions such as warehouses, manufacturing or laboratory facilities.
On the adjacent site of the development’s Phase II plan, grading and infrastructure work is going on along with the relocation of Zehner School Road.
Grinnell said the company hopes to pave the new section of the road in the next week or two before the asphalt plants close for the winter.
This past April, the supervisors approved the relocation of the 1,000-foot section of Zehner School Road to the south of its current intersection with Route 19.
Infrastructure work for the second phase of Jackson’s Pointe Commerce Park, which will include a mix of business offices, small retail sites and restaurants, also was approved earlier this year.
That phase will be built on 58 acres to the south of the current construction, toward the intersection of Route 19 and Lindsay Road, which is Route 528.
The Phase II master plan envisions retail stores, possibly a hotel, office space, several restaurants, a bank, a pharmacy, a convenience store/gas station, a car dealership and a small grocery store.
However, no land development plans have been presented to the township.
The company has said there has been interest from businesses about the site, said Grinnell.
He believes the company might present land development plans in the spring.
The developer is required to come back to the supervisors for additional approvals once the individual tenants are identified.
