Police investigate alleged child porn at home of Seven Fields mayor

SEVEN FIELDS — State police last week confiscated computers at the home of Mayor Ed Bayne that allegedly contained child pornography.
They did so under a search warrant.
Butler state police downloaded 24 files from a computer at Bayne's house, according to a copy of the search warrant that the Eagle got today at District Judge Dave Kovach's office in Cranberry Township.
They discovered the images in October while investigating a peer-to-peer file sharing network. After downloading the files, the police were able to get the specific Internet provider address of the computer, which led them to Bayne's house.
Police on Jan. 16 obtained a search warrant from Kovach to search the residence at 806 Graywyck Drive. It is not clear when the police searched Bayne's house.
Bayne had no comment today on the investigation.
Seven Fields manager Tom Smith said this morning that he's aware of the investigation, but added that “we defer all comments and questions to them.”
Calls to the state police in Butler were not immediately returned.
