Daffodil Days in March

The American Cancer Society looks forward to Butler County’s support March 18 through 24 for the annual Daffodil Days program. Information on helping with the selling of daffodils at workplaces, worship sites or organizations is available from Joshua S. Walker at 412-919-1121.

On Oct. 14, the Cancer Society and Butler Daffodil Days Committee held the seventh annual Longaberger Basket and Vera Bradley bingo raising more than $7,280 ($2,000 more than in any other year).

Its success was made possible largely by those who attended the bingo and the many volunteers who gave their time.

In becoming a Cancer Society volunteer, I learned that cancer will affect the lives of one in every two men and one in every three women at some point in their lives and is a top health concern for all Americans.

Donations received through the Daffodil Days program enable the society to offer free programs and services that help people fight cancer with courage and optimism, while providing physical and emotional assistance and financial information to ease their cancer journey.

Additionally, contributions provide the society with much-needed dollars to help fund cancer research, educate people about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection, and advocate for meaningful public health policies that benefit the community.
