Robert Dale Hesselgesser Sr., 84, of Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away at his home at 6 a.m. Sunday.

He was born in Slippery Rock Township on Feb. 26, 1929. He was the son of Charles Wesley Hesselgesser and Auda Floss Johnston Hesselgesser.

He married Elaine M. Youkerson on Sept. 20, 1950.

He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.

He was a self-employed farmer all his life. In addition to his full time farming, he had worked at Snyder's Bus Lines and Campbell Bus Lines, both of Slippery Rock, and Grove City Bus Lines. He was a Slippery Rock Township supervisor for 12 years and had served on the Slippery Rock School Board for 18 years ending his service in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine M. Hesselgesser; two sons, Robert D. Hesselgesser Jr. and his wife, Pamela, and Mark L. Hesselgesser, all of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Carol L. Feevey of Slippery Rock; three sisters, Ila Margaret Walton of Volant, Pa.; Jean Kuhn of Meadville, Pa., and Ruth Cooper and her husband, Glenn, of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Kevin Hesselgesser and his wife, Melissa, of Vineland, N.J., Diana McFeely and her husband, Rich, of Mercer, Doug Hesselgesser and his wife, Stephanie, of Grove City and Tyler Feevey of Slippery Rock; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Dwight; and two sisters, Edna Henry and Ethel Dollman.

HESSELGESSER — The family of Robert Dale Hesselgesser Sr., who passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev.
