Bus, train crash injures 11 in Evans City

EVANS CITY — A crash involving a BART bus and a train this morning has injured at least 11 people.

The mini bus is about 20 feet off Maple Avenue. One media report indicates that 11 developmentally delayed children were in the bus.

As of 8:45 a.m., eight people were removed from the wreckage.

The train, which appeared to be hauling tankers, did not derail and is halted on the track.

Emergency crews from Evans City, Callery, Cranberry, Harmony and Zelienople are on scene. Evans City borough police and state police also are on the scene.

Emergency crews have called two medical helicopters to the scene.
