Butler’s downtown to be featured on TV show

Butler’s efforts to revitalize its downtown and business district will be the focus of a Pennsylvania Cable Network program at 7 p.m. Sunday.
“Discover Main Street PA” will feature both Butler and Carlisle, Cumberland County, leading viewers on a tour of each community to showcase their revitalization efforts.
The hourlong program also will be shown at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday.
It was filmed downtown on June 6 and will take a look at Butler’s history as the birthplace of the Jeep, its architecture and its businesses.
Chelynne Curci, Butler Downtown’s Main Street manager, is excited to see the community featured statewide on television.
“The show’s goal is to introduce the rest of Pennsylvania to Main Street communities across the state and focus on what we have to offer.”
Butler Mayor Maggie Stock said she introduced the city in her cameo role, then tagged along for the rest of the shoot.
“(The TV crew) walked around and taped at Cummings Coffee and the (West New Castle Street) plaza, as well as a few other (locations downtown),” she said.
“The show also looks at the cooperation between a city and its Main Street program.”
Sixteen communities were selected by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center to be on the program.
For those without access to cable, the programs will be available online during the network airing by subscribing to PCN Select at pcntv.com.
