Stone Age State

I think we should start calling Pennsylvania the Stone Age State instead of the Keystone State. The fact we continue to cling to antiquated methods of doing things in our state — state liquor stores, toll takers on the turnpike, closed primaries. Let us move into the next century along with the rest of the country.

The fact we have the largest full-time Legislature in the country, and the most expensive group of “good old boys” determined to hang on to their cushy jobs and fat pensions, cheap health care and per diem is one reason we cannot move out of the dark ages.

To state as I have recently read in the papers that the people want to keep the state stores is ridiculous. Fat campaign contributions from special interests keep this dinosaur on life support. Let us bury this beast then we can see about passing a law, as some states have, to prevent teachers from going on strike when school starts.
