Heavy rains cause flooding in county

Multiple volunteer fire departments are busy this afternoon pumping home basements and closing some roads after heavy rains quickly inundated roads in the northeast section of the county.

The fast-moving water flooded Route 268, forcing firefighters to shut down the road. Other, smaller roads were underwater and, in some cases, were in jeopardy of being washed out.

The municipalities affected by the high water are Chicora, Karns City, Petrolia, Bruin and Buffalo Township.
