Michael Dominsky

Michael Dominsky of Prospect passed away Saturday morning in the Rehabilitation Unit of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on Nov. 10, 1926, in Saxonburg, he was a son of the late Joseph Dominsky and Eva (Czerkis) Dominsky.

Mike was a welder for the Pullman Standard Car Co., retiring when the plant closed. He was a member of the St. Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora and the East Butler Fireman’s Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a great cook. He loved working outdoors, gardening and picking mushrooms. He was very mechanically inclined and he enjoyed building many unique things.

As a part of our nation’s greatest generation, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Prior to his military service he worked in the logging industry, felling trees and transporting them to the sawmills.

Surviving are his sister-in-law, Ida Dominsky of Butler; his four nieces, Joyce Ann Schnur, Donna Fallecker, Carol Pantaleo and Linda Dominsky; his three nephews, Larry Dominsky, Jeff Dominsky and Rick Pantaleo; his numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his very close friends and neighbors, Dave and Linda Stellfox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Daniel Dominsky and John Dominsky, and his two sisters, Jennie Fallecker and Katherine Pantaleo.

Dominsky — The friends of Michael Dominsky, who passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Parastas services will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Douglas Lorence, pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Butler.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
