Anti-frack fibs

I take issue with two recent letters. The writers either don’t know their subject or they’re spreading malicious falsehoods to give the fracking people a hard time.

They mention Pennsylvania is a practice state for fracking. That’s not true. Before moving back to Pennsylvania, I lived in Louisiana and Texas. Hydraulic fracking has been used in both states long before they ever discovered Marcellus Shale gas in Pennsylvania — I would say for at least 20 years or longer.

They are currently fracking gas beneath Ft. Worth, Texas. There hasn’t been any water contamination there. There have been no incidents in Louisiana. The Environmental Protection Agency, after their study, says that fracking doesn’t do anything to harm water tables. Any well contamination in a Pennsylvania water well is from natural causes.

My brother had a water well drilled more than 30 years ago, and he had oil in his water. There was and is no fracking being done anywhere near his water well.

People don’t realize that This state sits on a lot of oil and gas and you don’t have to drill deep to find some of it.
