CRANBERRY TWP — Township police last week arrested two Allegheny County men suspected of breaking into five cars in the township earlier this month.

The men, both from McKees Rocks, were tracked down by police after one of the alleged victims saw the men getting back into a car in the Marshall Woods development.

The men, Timothy James Glynn, 30, and John William Hirschfield, 30, both are charged with criminal conspiracy, access device fraud, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, loitering and criminal mischief.

Police tracked the car to an address in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County, which was registered to Hirschfield’s girlfriend. When police arrived there, Hirschfield admitted to thefts that occurred April 4.

According to court papers, Glynn was at the house but fled when police arrived because he already had an active arrest warrant.

Several items were recovered during a search of the suspected car, including a wallet and three debit and credit cards belonging to a township resident on Marshall Road. The value of those debit and credit cards came to more than $14,000.

The suspects also stole two gift cards from the wallet totaling about $40.

Police also recovered more than $2,000 worth of stolen goods they’ve identified, and another $2,000 worth of material that has yet to be identified by owners.

Other items stolen include an Apple iPod valued at $150 and an electronic cigarette kit valued at $40. One of the cars that $100 worth of damage done to it, police said.

A fifth resident reported his car had been “ransacked” but didn’t believe anything had been stolen.

Both suspects are awaiting a preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Dave Kovach in Cranberry.
