Slippery Rock man, 25, accused of welfare fraud

A hearing is set next month for a Butler County man accused of receiving more than $1,200 in food stamps by falsifying his income when he applied for benefits.

Jammeeo R. Hollingsworth, 25, of Slippery Rock is charged with second-degree misdemeanor welfare fraud.

The Pennsylvania Inspector General's office filed charges last week. It is responsible for investigating welfare fraud and conducting collections for programs administered by, or contracted through, the Department of Public Welfare.

Hollingsworth did not report he was working and earning wages from July 6, 2012, to Feb. 28, 2013, when he was receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, according to court documents.

Investigators said he got $1,276 in illegal food stamps.

Hollingsworth's preliminary hearing will be May 12 at the office of District Judge Pete Shaffer in Butler.
