Butler baseball section co-champ

The Butler baseball team will have to settle for a share of the section title.

The Golden Tornado fell 3-2 to North Hills Monday while North Allegheny routed New Castle 16-5.

Those outcomes mean Butler (11-4 overall, 8-2 in Section 1-AAAA) and North Allegheny (12-6, 8-2) will be co-champions.

The two clubs split during the regular season.

Seneca Valley 4, Fox Chapel 1 — The Raiders' win sends them to the WPIAL playoffs.

Seneca Valley finished the section season with a 5-5 record, tied for third place with North Hills. Those two teams split during the season so both will enter the playoffs.

Karns City 22, Clarion-Limestone 4 — Alessandro Marotto tripled, singled three times and drove in four runs as the Gremlins bludgeoned the Lions.

Holden Martin got the win on the mound and also collected four hits at the plate and drove in five for Karns City (8-2).

Martin also had a three-hit game Saturday in a rain-shortened 8-0 win over A-C Valley.
