Richard A. “Rick” Everly, 62, of Butler passed away on Thursday at 10 p.m. at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Butler to Donald D. Everly and Phyllis M. (Ball) Everly.

He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a master sergeant after 23 years. Following his retirement he worked at Home Depot and owned and operated his own business, Lighting Strike. Rick worked with the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a multidiscipline instructor for them. Rick was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed going on hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. Rick loved working with stained glass even after he became very ill.

Rick is survived by two sons, Jason Everly and his fiancee, Kristin, of Valencia and Jeremy Everly and his wife, Susie, of Taneytown, Md.; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. and Emily K. Everly; one brother, Donnie Everly of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two sisters, Darlene Zarichnak and her husband, Paul, of Butler and Michele Miller of Chicora; a number of nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Deborah “Debi” J. Everly.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Everly.

EVERLY — Friends of Richard A. “Rick” Everly, who died Thursday, June 19, 2014, will be received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Butler.Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.St. Paul Catholic women and Christian mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the church to recite the rosary.Family suggests donations, may be made to National Museum of the Marines Corps at www.marineshertiage.org or the National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, VA 22172.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
