Kenneth James O'Donnell, 78, of Canton, Ga., formerly of Frederick, Md., and Chicora, passed away on May 12 in Georgia.

Kenneth was born in Butler County on Feb. 18, 1936. He was the son of the late Daniel James and Mary Elizabeth McGee O'Donnell.

Mr. O'Donnell served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958.

He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 2 in Frederick and a member of the American Legion.

Ken worked for eight years at the Western Auto Warehouse before moving to Maryland, where he was employed by Bull Information Systems from 1967 until his retirement in 1991.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Judith Ann French O'Donnell, who he married on July 9, 1966, at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.

Also surviving are his son, Kenneth O'Donnell Jr. of Lewisberry; his two daughters, Sandra Harris of Canton, Ga., and Sharon O'Donnell of Frederick, Md.; his granddaughter, Crystalynn Harris of Canton, Ga.; his four sisters, Mary Anne Schaffler of Riverside, Calif., Gertrude Blair of Butler, Jeanne Shawhan-South of Annapolis, Md., and Rita Mills of Poolsville, Md.; his brother, Robert O'Donnell of Montrose, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward and Joseph O'Donnell.

O'Donnell— A Mass of Christian burial for Kenneth James O'Donnell, who passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in the Village of North Oakland, Chicora, with the Rev. James R. Orr, church administrator, celebrating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Chicora American Legion and VFW Posts and the Bradys Bend American Legion Post will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
