Betty A. Waddell Black, 87, of Butler passed away at 8 p.m. May 10 at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1926, in Pittsburgh to the late Leon M. Ayers and Christine Ayers.

Mrs. Black was a 1945 graduate of the Ellis School in Pittsburgh. She was a homemaker and a very active member of the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed playing bridge and Scrabble and flower gardening. She was a dog lover.

Mrs. Black is survived by her son, James P. Waddell Jr. and his wife, Jane, and her grandson, James P. Waddell III, all of Atlanta, Ga.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Pettigrew Waddell, who passed away in February 1997; her second husband, Stuart M. Black, who passed away in June 2006; her two brothers; and her two sisters.

Black — A memorial service for Betty A. Waddell Black, who passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church, 206 Main St., Connoquenessing, with the Pastor Kurt Knobel officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
