Frances S. McKissick

Frances S. McKissick, 69, of Butler passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1944, in Butler to the late Joseph Weiland and Charlotte (Forcht) Weiland.

Mrs. McKissick was a graduate of Butler High School.

In her earlier years, she worked at Bobbie Brooks, then she worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, from where she retired.

Frances enjoyed canning, taking care of her many plants and flowers, cutting firewood, riding quads, and following her son, Shawn, to his karaoke shows to dance and to hear people sing.

Mrs. McKissick is survived by her son, Shawn R. McKissick and his wife, Tracy, of Butler; her stepson, Richard T. McKissick Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Butler; her brother, Richard J. Weiland of Connoquenessing; her sister, Charlotte M. Ross and her husband, Kenneth, of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. McKissick, who she married on June 10, 1967, and who passed away on Feb. 11, 2004, and her sister, Mary Jo Weiland.

McKissick — There will be no public visitation for Frances S. McKissick, who passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014.Her family hosted a blessing service. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society of Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.Arrangements are entrusted to the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
