Gordon 'Matt' Dillon

Gordon “Matt” Dillon, 83, of Butler passed away Sunday at St. John’s Specialty Care Center, Mars.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1930, in Clearfield County, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Moyer) Dillon.

Matt was a Pennsylvania state trooper, graduating from the State Police Academy in 1950. After he retired, he continued his career with the Butler County Sheriff’s office.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and he was a member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church, the Fort Lee Masonic Lodge in New Jersey and the Syria Shrine.

Surviving are his wife, Frances (Crump) Dillon, who he married on Oct. 24, 1953; his daughter, Debra Fend of Butler; his two granddaughters, Lindsey Jewart and Jennifer Fend, both of Butler; his great-grandson, Gary Rudolph; his sister, Iona Taus of South Carolina; and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Homer and Dean Dillon.

Dillon— The friends of Gordon “Matt” Dillon, who passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
