VA picnic slated to honor 91 volunteers

Annual event will be Friday

BUTLER TWP — VA Butler Healthcare Friday will host its fifth annual recognition picnic and awards program for volunteers beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the auditorium.

This year, 91 volunteers will receive pins and certificates for their hours and years of service.

In 2013, VA Butler had more than 300 volunteers who provided more than 38,000 hours of service to veterans and donations totaling $229,140.

Presidential Lifetime Achievement recognition for 4,000 hours goes to Ginger Braho. Recognition for 5,000 hours goes to Chuck Jennings and Robert Thiry. Recognition for 8,750 hours goes to William Brandenstein and Betty Slaugenhaupt.

Recognition for 10,000 hours goes to Mary Hambley.

VA Butler volunteers receiving awards this year for 100 hours of service are Kenneth Ammann, Raymond Atkinson, Edward Barton, David Brady, Wendy Carr, Rose Gabster, June Gregg, Mary Hogue, Alex Kovach, Richard Mealy, Joseph Monsour, John Morgan, Gerald Navarra, James North, Robert Novak, Donald Paserba, James Petsinger, Trevor Popovitch, Rebecca Solander and David Walker.

Bryan Gamwo is being honored for 100 hours as a young adult. William McKee is being honored for 150 hours as a young adult.

Being honored for 300 hours are Rosemary Aveni, James Bailey, Jacob Bayuk Sr., John Dye, William Hannan, Shirley Robinson, Maurice Snyder, Donald Stevens, Jim Stock and Clarence Wier.

Being honored for 500 hours are MaryLee Kelly, Jeanette Miller, Henry Mueller, Marilyn Stephenson, Lorna Whittington and Sandra Wilder.

Being honored for 750 hours are Donald Adams, David Borland, Richard Bralski, Helen Fisher, Philip Napolitano, John Rosenbaum and Patrick Trimpey.

Being honored for 1,000 hours are Crawford Bolten, James Caldwell, Mary Heilman, William Heilman, Kenneth Knight, Janet Lantz, Mark Salser and Linda Trimpey.

Being honored for 1,750 hours are Norm Carpenter, David Cavanaugh, Jeff Geary, Gene Karmanocky, Ruth Orlowsky and Dennis Plotner.

Being honored for 2,500 hours are Joe Lofton and Michael Ordy, and being honored for 3,750 hours are Clarence Maley and Albert Nolte Sr.

Certificate awards for hours and years of service will go to Edward Adamsky, eight years and 2,846 hours; Jack Affolder, 16 years and 4,381 hours; James Bachman, 14 years and 3,170 hours; Alex Barna, nine years and 3,226 hours; and Virginia Bishop, 23 years and 7,859 hours.

Also being recognized are Jane Croll, 10 years and 2,013 hours; William Drolsbaugh, four years and 1,304 hours; Bob Faller, seven years and 1,326 hours; Joseph Gagliardi, five years and 1,662 hours; Damian Hambley, 13 years and 11,378 hours; Lawrence Heade, 17 years and 1,316 hours; Clara Janikowski, 12 years and 1,223 hours; Charles Kildoo, six years and 1,401 hours; Genevieve Kovach, 10 years and 2,143 hours; David Parrish, seven years and 3,107 hours; John Pintirsch, 18 years and 4,870 hours; and Judith Pintirsch, 18 years and 4,463 hours.

And also being awarded areVirginia Reichenbach, 15 years and 6,007 hours; James Riemer, 23 years and 7,284 hours; William Wikert, 24 years and 8,541 hours; Rita Snyder, six years and 2,076 hours; and Gertrude Zima, 38 years and 7,231 hours.
