Joan Codispot

Joan E. Codispot, 71, of Butler passed away Monday at her home following an illness.

She was born March 8, 1943, in Butler, the daughter of the late Stephen and Edna Ammon Secunda.

Joan was a registered nurse for more than 40 years, having worked at Butler Memorial Hospital and Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and The Associated Artists of Butler County Art Center.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dominic E. Codispot, who she married July 28, 1963.

Also surviving are her two sons, Dominic E. Codispot and his wife, Rosie, of Greensboro, N.C., and Daniel R. Codispot and his wife, Karina, of Lakeland, Fla.; her daughter, Gina Marie Codispot at home; her two granddaughters, Abigail Codispot and Sophia Codispot; her two grandsons, Nathan Codispot and Dante Codispot; her brother, Walter “Butch” Secunda and his wife, Deborah, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and her two sisters, Bonita Secunda of Vermont, and Barbara Secunda, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, David Christopher Codispot, who passed away March 21, 2014; three brothers, and two sisters.

Codispot— There will be no visitation for Joan E. Codispot, who passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2014.A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053, or to the charity of the donor's choice.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Butler.For more information, please visit www.martinfh.net.
