Mark Hammel

Mark T. Hammel, 60, of Mars passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital, Cranberry Township.

Born in Pittsburgh on May 4, 1954, he was the son of Vera B. Horne Hammel and the late William G. Hammel Jr.

Mark was co-owner of Mark Anthony Chariots in Mars.

He was an avid boater and fisherman and was proud of his 1970 Boss 302.

Surviving are his wife, Jan Zorich Hammel, who he married on Feb. 23, 1974; his daughter, Valerie A. Harper and her husband, William Jr., of Ellwood City; his grandchildren, Matthew and Veronica Harper; his mother, Vera B. Horne Hammel of Shaler Township; his sister, Barbara A. McMillen and her husband, David, of Moon Township; and his brother, Stephen M. Hammel of Cranberry Township.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William G. Hammel III.

Hammel— The friends of Mark T. Hammel, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the CrossWay Church, 109 Davis Road, Valencia, with the Pastor Chris Gibbs officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to CrossWay Church.Arrangements are under the direction of the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Mars, and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
