8:32 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Michele A. Geyer Brown, 48, of Renfrew struck the back of a box van on West Cunningham Street. Lewis J. Czzowitz, 67, of Butler was driving the van.11:38 p.m. Sunday — A Westmoreland County man was arrested and jailed on $100,000 bail after police caught him with dozens of bags of suspected heroin, following a traffic stop on Center Avenue.The suspect, James E. Scott, 34, of New Kensington, was riding in a sport utility vehicle that police stopped for a traffic violation. Police found that he was wanted on a warrant out of Allegheny County.Police searched Scott and turned up 63 stamp bags of suspected heroin in his pants pockets. He was also carrying two cell phones.Scott was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He is in the Butler County Prison.11:08 p.m. Saturday — Maxwell J. Bowers, 23, of Penn Township was arrested after he allegedly broke a woman's Apple iPhone, valued at $500, outside the BP convenience store in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.Bowers ran away but police found him later on Kittanning Street. An officer ordered him to stop but he refused. Then, the officer used his Taser and arrested Bowers.He was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.

Tuesday — Shaneymay I. Hockenberry, 42, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck at 8:37 p.m. Aug. 3 on Delwood Road.In addition to driving under the influence, Hockenberry is charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and driving with an expired inspection.Tuesday — Police charged Charles D. Closson, 57, of Renfrew with barging into another man's apartment on Kendall Avenue in Lyndora last week and pushing the man to the floor.The other man grabbed a hammer to protect himself and forced Closson out of the apartment building shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 13. Police cited Closson for trespass and harassment.

Monday — Richard W. Conner, 37, of Summit Township was arrested after he allegedly tried to unlawfully buy a firearm at a Washington Township gun store earlier this year.He is accused of lying on his application April 4 to buy the firearm at Logan's Gun Gallery on North Washington Road.Connor is charged with unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor He is free on his own recognizance7 p.m. Monday — Anthony W. Carnahan, 38, and Sabrina L. Maire, 36, both of Slippery Rock, were arrested after they allegedly assaulted one another during a domestic dispute at a home on Allen Lane in Slippery Rock Township.Carnahan and Marie both were arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and released on nonmonetary bail.Aug. 5 — Herbert Ellsworth Blodgett III, 32, of Butler was arrested on charges he illegally attempted to buy a handgun at Sportsman's Supply in Summit Township on March 7.Blodgett in completing a federal form required to buy the 9 mm pistol, denied that he was convicted of any crimes that would prohibit him from having a gun. The Pennsylvania Instant Check system later revealed that he has a prior conviction for burglary, according to court documents.Blodgett is charged with unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities. He is free on his own recognizance.

Tuesday — A burglar broke into a mobile home and shed on Monterey Road in Toby Township. Stolen were assorted tools, plumbing items and a Cub Cadet weed trimmer.The break-in and theft happened between 4 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 814-226-1710.

3:15 p.m. Tuesday — A 32-year-old man faces drug charges after he suffered a suspected heroin overdose at his home on Adrian Road in East Franklin Township.The man, who police did not immediately identify, was revived and later taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin. Police found stamp bags of suspected heroin and a hypodermic needle at his house.3:14 a.m. Monday — Nathan L. Browning, 27, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was found passed out behind a still running vehicle parked on the side of Route 66 at Houston Road in Manor Township.10:15 p.m. Thursday — Brenda M. McMahon, 42, of Erie was arrested on charges she attacked a trooper after police found her passed out at Croyle Cemetery in East Franklin Township.When officers tried to awaken her, McMahon became “belligerent and combative,” a police report said. She is accused of kicking and hitting a trooper.She was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault and public drunkenness. She was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail, following arraignment.Thursday — Thieves stole a 15-foot steel roof truss boom from a construction site at the ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township. Police believe the thieves used heavy equipment on site to load the boom onto a truck or trailer.The theft happened between Aug. 1 and 14. Police did not indicate if they have any suspects. Zampogna Construction of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, owns the stolen property.
