Tornado golf nets victory

The Butler boys golf team made an early statement in the Section 3-AAA race.

Nic Leone shot a 2-over par 38 to help the Golden Tornado defeat North Hills 233-236 at the Shannopin Country Club.

Gabe Baroffio shot a 45 to post the second best score for Butler (2-1, 1-0).

Seneca Valley 203, Mars 208 — Tyler Leake and Andrew Smathers each shot a 39 to lead the Raiders to this win at Cranberry Highlands.

Zac Stein, Brandon Ford and Bailey Trzeciak each shot a 41 for the Planets.

District 10 megamatch —Slippery Rock finished 21 strokes behind Titusville to finish second in a Region 5 match at Cross Creek Golf Resort.

Grove City shot a 344 to finish in third place. Zac McCue shot a 9-over par 79 to lead the Rockets, while Sam Isacco and Colin Hyatt contributed an 82 and 83, respectively.

Jordan Anderson led the Eagles with a 91.

KSAC megamatch — Nathan Hoshak shot a 36 to earn medalist honors and help Moniteau win a tournament Wednesday at Pinecrest Golf Course.

The Warriors finished with a 228 team score, squeaking by Cranberry, which finished with a 229. Britton Simmons finished seventh overall for Moniteau with a 42.

A-C Valley's Noah Morgan shot a 41 to finish fifth overall. Logan Pistorius led Karns City with a 50, while Zack Hepler shot a 45 to lead Union.
