3 charged in robbery at Hoagie Shop

BUTLER TWP — Three people were charged today in connection to the armed robbery of a sandwich shop this month.

Franklin V. Zurzolo, 24, of Butler is charged with felony counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery after he allegedly used a shotgun on Aug. 11 to rob the Hoagie Shop on New Castle Road across the road from the Point Plaza Shopping Center.

The criminal complaint filed against Zurzolo states he was aided in the robbery by Kellie Horne of Butler. As of this afternoon, township police were still searching for Horne.

Township police said Zurzolo, armed with the shotgun, and Horne, armed with a knife, entered the restaurant ordered employees to the ground before taking off with $200.

Two other people were charged with allegedly assisting Zurzolo and Horne with the robbery.

Amanda S. Edgington, 25, and Chester E. Dietrich, 25, both listed as homeless, each are charged with a felony count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Township Police Chief John Hays said an unrelated traffic stop by state police Tuesday night led to the arrest of the three.

Zurzolo was placed in Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. Edgington and Dietrich were placed in the prison on $25,000 bail each.
