WORTH TWP — Authorities have identified the Lawrence County man who died Thursday in Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park.

Dustin Drew, the park manager, said the man was Dennis Sallmen, 52.

Sallmen was visiting the park with the Westfield Personal Care Home of New Wilmington, Lawrence County.

Sallmen was in the park’s designated swim area at Lakeview Beach on the park’s North Shore when bystanders noticed him struggling at about 1:30 p.m.

Drew said the water there was about 3 feet deep.

Bystanders pulled Sallmen out of the water and began to administer CPR while another bystander called 911.

After emergency crews did as much as they could, the Butler County Coroner’s office was called. A cause of death has not been confirmed.

Drew said the man’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
