McBride carries Warriors

Moniteau found itself in a nip-and-tuck affair on the rosd Friday night — and was up to the task.

Josh McBride had 15 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns, also caught six passes for 65 yards and a score as the Warriors edged Clarion-Limestone, 28-20, in football action.

Cody Skiver completed eight of 13 passes for 102 yards and a score. He rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown as well.

“Cody's not really a quarterback, but he's getting the job done back there,” Moniteau coach Wade Vogan said.

Skiver also had a fumble recovery and intercepted a pass defensively.

Moniteau improved to 2-0 despite taking 12 penalties. The game was tied 8-8 at halftime before the Warriors took the lead for good in the second half.

Freeport 19, Ford City 0

Ian Miller scored on runs of three and four yards and Jacob Sarver booted field goals of 22 and 32 yards as the Yellowjackets posted gtheir first win of the season.

Sarver's field goals were the game's only points during the first three quarters.

Brookville 28, Union 20

Cole Morris rushed for 104 yards and threw for 89, but the Golden Knights slipped to 1-1.

Morris scored on a 60-yard run and tossed a 53-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Wiser.

The TD pass pulled Union within 28-20 with 5:16 to play, but the Golden Knights got no closer.

Brookville's Bobby McGranor threw for 114 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 46 yards and two scores.

St. Marys 23, A-C Valley 0

Anthony Painter led the Falcons (0-2) with 46 yards rushing. Brady Terwilliger had nine tackles, Evan redding eight, including a quarterback sack.

Grove City, Corry, suspended

This game was halted in the fourth quarter due to lightning with Corry leading, 26-21.

The game was scheduled to be completed Saturday afternoon.

Beaver 54 Summit Academy 16

The Knights dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Golf

Knoch 191, Butler 211 — Jimmy Ellis earned medalist honors for the Knights with a 37 at Saxon Golf Course.

Moniteau finished second in the 10-team mega-match held at Wanango Country Club.

The Warriors carded a 238, three strokes behind Cranberry.

Union was seventh with 260, A-C Valley eighth with 265, Karns City ninth with 271.

Union's Kolby Montgomery was fifth overall with a 42, A-C Valley's Ethan Nevel and Moniteau's Britton Simmons eighth with a 45.
