Television Q&A

QUESTION: Is “Hostages” coming back? I noticed that Dylan McDermott is going to star in “Stalker.” Was that the one and only season of “Hostages”?

ANSWER: Hostages has ended after a single season. Stalker, a repellent drama with McDermott and Maggie Q, begins its inaugural season on CBS on Oct. 1.

QUESTION: Please tell me the name of the child actor who plays Halle Berry’s son Ethan on the CBS show “Extant.” He is so terrific and will he be on any other TV shows in the future? He looks like my son when he was that age.

ANSWER: Pierce Gagnon plays young Ethan Woods on the CBS drama, which concluded its first season Wednesday. Born in Atlanta, he has been in the movie “Looper,” on the TV series “One Tree Hill” and in Zach Braff’s recent film “Wish I Was Here.” He has two other movies awaiting release: “Merry Friggin’ Christmas” (with the late Robin Williams), coming later this year and “Tomorrowland,” due in 2015.

QUESTION: I am hooked on “Castle.” I don’t know where I’ve been the last six seasons. Thankfully, TNT reruns episodes and I’m binge watching. How popular is the show? Season 7 is upon us and yet I’ve seen no promos. Is it because the show does not need promos or does ABC not care much for the show?

ANSWER: The series starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic has been a steady performer for ABC since its premiere in March 2009, fitting nicely with reality-TV lead-ins like “Dancing With the Stars.” “Castle” begins its seventh season on Sept. 29, with fans awaiting resolution of the sixth-season cliffhanger. And, all you fans, don’t worry when you see new ABC series “Forever” in the “Castle” time slot on Sept. 22. That’s a special preview of “Forever” hoping to get some of that DWTS audience; the Ioan Gruffudd drama will move into its regular time slot at 10 p.m. Tuesdays on Sept. 23.
