BUTLER TWP — The next meeting about the results of the Butler School District facilities study will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Intermediate High School Auditorium.

Jon Thomas of Thomas and Williamson Project Management of Pittsburgh will delve further into details his company studied over the past year.

Thomas made an initial presentation Sept. 10, going over historic student population, operational and utility costs and other statistics for the district.

Five general options were highlighted to make the district more efficient, from elementary school closures to grade reconfigurations along with some combinations of both actions.

Also at that meeting, Superintendent Dale Lumley said if any schools are to be closed by the end of the school year, the school board would have to make that decision by January.

SUMMIT TWP — The state Department of Transportation will have a public display of the proposed Zeigler Avenue/Herman Road Bridge replacement project in Butler.The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Summit Township municipal building.The project will replace the bridge over Coal Run.Information on the project's status, schedule, design and right of way acquisition will be available for review and comment at the meeting.Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in the project area or comments on potential impacts to historic resources should attend this meeting.
