Zelienople might be featured on TV program

ZELIENOPLE — The borough may be featured on a nationally-broadcast TV program this spring.

“Communities of Distinction” had recently expressed interest in shooting a segment highlighting the borough, but they were seeking more than just permission.

The borough would have to pay about $20,000 for the show to be filmed, borough manager Don Pepe told council at its meeting Monday night.

“Communities of Distinction” is a half-hour show produced by USM Studios, which has its headquarters in Coral Springs, Fla.

The show is hosted by former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw, though he does not travel to each location where it is shot.

It airs on Fox Business Network at 1 p.m. on Sundays and on Pittsburgh Cable News Channel at 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase Zelienople, there’s no question about it,” said council President Allen Bayer.

The council delayed action to see if any businesses would be interested in contributing toward the cost.
