Housing plan, deli slated in Cranberry

CRANBERRY TWP — The planning commission Monday night saw for the first time several new developments planned in the township.

The biggest of those is a residential development called the Glen at Woodside, which would have 72 single-family residential lots at the intersection of Powell and Darlington roads.

Ron Henshaw, Cranberry’s director of community development, said Monday that the residential development will be built by Weaver Master Builders, the same company that built Bellvue Park in the township.

Of the 72 single-family units, Henshaw said about 40 will be “estate” houses and the rest will be “patio-style” homes.

Henshaw said he’s been working with developers on the “challenging topography” of the plan, adding that the development will have an intricate pedestrian walkway that will connect it to other neighborhoods.

Another business development coming is Jason’s Deli. It is a chain that has restaurants across the country, although the one planned in Cranberry would be the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.

If approved, the deli would replace the former Kings Restaurant on Route 19 near the Cranberry Mall, a restaurant that went out of business more than three years ago.

Finally, Henshaw introduced a project that would have the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 19 torn down and replaced just south of the current location.

The gas station, currently across the road from Victory Family Church on Route 19, would be rebuilt on land that is owned by the company.

The planning commission could vote on all of these projects on Monday, at which time they would go to the supervisors for consideration.
