Maridon hosts Japanese tea

The Maridon Museum will host a traditional Japanese tea ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 322 N. McKean St.

Reservations are required. Cost is $25.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8.

Area youths part of show

PITTSBURGH — Three area youths are part of the Pittsburgh Musical Theater production of “A Chorus Line” running Oct. 23 to 26 at Byham Theater, 101 Sixth St.

The show features students from PMT in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts Orchestra.

Butler County students taking part are Dan Terwilliger as Bobby, Jessica Ortiz as Sheila and Brecken Farrell as Frank.

Curtain for the musical about a chorus audition is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 to 25 and 2 p.m. Oct. 26.

Opera features Cabot’s Cornetti

Pittsburgh Opera’s Grand and Glorious gala concert at 8 p.m. Saturday will feature mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti, a native of Cabot, among others.

Cornetti has performed at opera houses around the world. The opera star also takes time to come home, coaching students at Slippery Rock University and performing with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra from time to time.

PBT presents ‘Sleeping Beauty’

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre opens its 45th season with “The Sleeping Beauty.” Tchaikovsky’s most recognizable score will be played by the PBT Orchestra.

Curtain is at 8 p.m. Oct. 24, at 2 and 8 p.m. Oct. 25, and at 2 p.m. Oct. 26.

Symphony to play Disney

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present “The Magical Music of Disney” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

Music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will include snippets of the music to be performed.

Tickets are available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St., or at showclix.com.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students, plus a handling fee of 50 cents per ticket if purchased in the symphony office or at the door, or a fee of $3 per adult ticket and $1.50 per student ticket if purchased through the showclix website.

County crafters show work

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Crafters Lisa Tracy of Butler and Scott Thompson of Petrolia will participate in the 20th annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Christmas Festival.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday and Oct. 25 and 26 at the Washington Fairgrounds, 2151 N. Main St.

Cost is $6 for adults, $5.50 for senior citizens, and $1 for children ages 6 to 12.
