William J. Stafford

William J. Stafford, 72, of Cranberry Township passed away Saturday in the comfort of his home.

Born on Jan. 27, 1942, in Gallitzin, he was the son of the late Paul and Ada Glass Stafford.

Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.

He was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and a member of the Reynolds VFW Post 7599.

In his free time, he loved golfing and enjoyed completing Sudoku puzzles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill will be remembered as a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 51 years, Cathy Ost Stafford, who he married on Feb. 15, 1963; his son, William J. Stafford Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Cranberry Township; his two daughters, Jennifer L. Stafford and her companion, Paul Metzger, of Zelienople, and Julie M. Young and her husband, Bob, of Cranberry Township; his six grandchildren, Janelle, Erika and Nathan Stafford, and Lauryn, Lily and Leah Young; his sister, Donna Conn of Alabama and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jones, and his brother, Dan Stafford.

Stafford — The Stafford family will receive friends of William J. Stafford, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A funeral ceremony in Bill's honor will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Derek Marotta officiating.In lieu of flowers, the Stafford family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Bill's honor to the Cranberry Township EMS, 20727 Route 19, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Bill's family at www.glennkildoofuneralhome.com.
