Butler County's great daily newspaper

It's your duty

It is the duty of all registered voters, whether Republican, Democratic or independent, to vote. Our men and women in the military have fought many wars and conflicts to ensure our right to vote, and many do not take advantage of that right.

If you are a registered voter and do not vote, you still have the right to complain about our government. But, I personally do not want to hear your complaints.

Every election is important, whether it be for dog catcher or president. The elected officials affect each of our lives, especially at the local level.

You will be voting not only for political positions but also various referendums. If you are not aware of these referendums, you just might want to check them out. Voting will ensure that you have a say in what is passed or not passed. You can be sure the persons responsible for the referendums will be out in full force, so let your voice be heard, whether it be for or against.

I live in Middlesex Township, and we have one of the highest voter turnout percentages in Butler County, but it’s nowhere near 100 percent. I hope all of the registered voters in Pennsylvania, especially Butler County, get out to vote.

There is no excuse for not voting. There is no voter ID law now.
