Catherine “Kay” Stroud of Concordia at Cabot, formerly of Bethesda, Md., celebrated her 100th birthday with family.

The former Catherine Aye was born in Armstrong County in 1914. She married the late Bob Stroud in 1947.

Mrs. Stroud was a medical technologist. A lifelong learner, Mrs. Stroud studied the effects of the atomic bomb on human health during World War II and later studied pharmacology.

For many years she helped with correspondence for presidential families in the White House, including Presidents Nixon and Reagan.

Mrs. Stroud’s hobbies are politics and physics.
