BUTLER SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION PLANS

Thomas and Williamson, a consulting company in Pittsburgh, presented three recommended school consolidation plans for the Butler School District on Oct. 15.

Those plans could shutter six or seven elementary schools, while simultaneously transforming remaining elementary schools to a K-3 or K-4 primary model, and sending intermediate elementary students to the current junior high school downtown.

Here is a look at each elementary school. The information comes from a presentation Thomas and Williamson did in September.

Facility: Built in 1976; renovated in 2002. Slated for closure in all three of the recommended plans. If closed, Broad Street students would attend Northwest.Enrollment: 245Capacity: 322Size: 38,541 square feet

Facility: Built in 1956; Renovated in 1994. Slated for closure in all three of the recommended plans. Center Avenue students would attend McQuistion.Enrollment: 221Capacity: 382Size: 38,600 square feet

Facility: Built in 1950; renovated in 1960 and 1997. School would remain open and be transformed into a K-3 or K-4 primary center in all three of the recommended plans. Students from Emily Brittain and Oakland would attend Center Township if one of the recommended plans is approved.Enrollment: 600Capacity: 724Size: 89,420 square feet

Facility: Built in 1952; renovated in 1986 and 1998. School is slated for closure in all three of the recommended plans. If closed, Clearfield students would attend McQuistion.Enrollment: 225Capacity: 322Size: 30,887 square feet

Facility: Built in 1957; renovated in 1962 and 1998. School would remain open and be transformed into a K-3 or K-4 primary center in all three of the recommended plans. Some students from Meridian could attend Connoquenessing if one of the recommended plans is approved.Enrollment: 264Capacity: 322Size: 41,951 square feet

Facility: Built in 1954; renovated in 1991, 1996 and 2002. School would close under all three recommended plans. Emily Brittain students would be sent to Center Township if one of the recommended plans is approved.Enrollment: 401Capacity: 403Size: 53,184 square feet

Facility: Built in 1930; renovated in 1969 and 1999. School would remain open under recommended plans, with a K-3 or K-4 model. Students from Center Avenue, Clearfield, and in some scenarios, Summit and Meridian students, could attend McQuistion.Enrollment: 407Capacity: 483Size: 59,886 square feet

Facility: Built in 1927; renovated in 1989. School would be closed under all three recommended plans. Meridian students could be sent to Connoquenessing, McQuistion and Northwest if one of the recommended plans is approved.Enrollment: 413Capacity: 456Size: 44,073 square feet

Facility: Built in 1956; renovated in 1989 and 2008. School would remain open with a K-3 or K-4 primary model in all three recommended plans. Students from Broad Street and some from Meridian could attend Northwest.Enrollment: 384Capacity: 483Size: 52,453 square feet

Facility: Built in 1950. Renovated in 1961 and 1996. School would close under all three recommended plans. Oakland students would go to Center Township.Enrollment: 290Capacity: 369Size: 42,317 square feet

Facility: Built in 1957; renovated in 1998. School could remain open in some plans under a K-3 or K-4 model. One of the recommended plans would shutter the school. If closed, Summit students would go to McQuistion.Enrollment: 212Capacity: 322Size: 31,818 square feet
