Baby sitters training scheduled

American Red Cross baby sitters training will be offered twice in November:

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Adams Township Municipal Building, 690 Valencia Road, Mars

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Alameda Park Building, 184 Alameda Park Road.

The class is for children ages 11 to 15 and emphasizes prevention, safety, responsibility, leadership and professionalism.

Registration is required. The cost includes books and materials. Successful students will receive a course certificate.

Blood drive planned in Petrolia

PETROLIA — A replenishment blood drive for Adam Bell will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Petrolia Social Hall, 200 Argyle St.

Homebrewers share skills

HARMONY — The Butler Area Society of Homebrewers will host Learn to Home Brew Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Harmony Inn, 230 Mercer St.

The event is free.

Shop for a cause slated Sunday

Operation Spay Neuter will host a “shop for a cause” fundraiser from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Elks, 80 Kaufman Drive.

A variety of vendors will sell cooking and food storage equipment, baking and seasoning mixes, beauty supplies, jewelry, handbags and more.

Admission is free. To make reservations or for more information, call 724-290-3730. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Operation Spay Neuter.

Benefit to aid boy with disease

EVANS CITY — A benefit for 4-year-old Cole Nasky will be from 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 8 at the Evans City Fire Hall, 124 Jackson St.

The son of Mark and Sarah Nasky, Cole has Crohn’s disease.

The evening will include entertainment by D.J. McCombs; strip ticket, 50/50 and gun raffles; a Chinese auction and food.

Monetary donations also will be accepted for Cole at any NexTier Bank location.

VFD schedules sportsman’s night

NORTH WASHINGTON — The North Washington Volunteer Fire Department will have a Fall Sportsman’s Night at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in the department’s social hall, 739 Fairview Road.

The event will feature games, prizes and continuous guns and sporting goods raffles.
