ATHENS, Ga. — The NCAA said Georgia star running back Todd Gurley must sit out until Nov. 15 for accepting more than $3,000 for autographed memorabilia and other items over a two-year period.

The school applied for Gurley's reinstatement after he missed the last two games while the school investigated allegations of improper benefits.

But, in a decision sent to Georgia on Tuesday, the NCAA said Gurley must serve a four-game suspension, or 30 percent of the season, for accepting cash from multiple individuals. The NCAA also said Gurley had to repay a portion of the money to a charity of his choice and perform 40 hours of community service.

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Julius Randle is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken right leg.The seventh overall pick out of Kentucky broke his leg in the fourth quarter of his NBA debut in Los Angeles' season-opening loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. Randle was strapped to a wheeled stretcher and taken off the Staples Center court after colliding with two Rockets and landing awkwardly.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Charlotte Hornets forward Jeffery Taylor pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge and admitted he pushed his girlfriend at a hotel in Michigan.Taylor pleaded guilty in East Lansing District Court to domestic abuse and malicious destruction of property charges. He faces up to 93 days in jail, but prosecutors say they won't oppose a diversion program that could clear Taylor's record if he complies with probation rules.

HONOLULU — Hawaii fired basketball coach Gib Arnold a little more than two weeks before its first regular-season game. Assistant Brandyn Akana also was fired.Arnold was 72-55 over four years, including 20-11 last year.The school has been under investigation since March by the NCAA. The university earlier this year self-reported a Jan. 9 incident in which “a men's basketball coach submitted an altered document that was essential for admissions purposes,” according to information obtained by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
