The Grove City High boys cross country team placed second at the PIAA Class AA Cross Country Championships Saturday in Hershey.

The Eagles were paced by three runners in the top 50.

Braydon Pyle led the way with a time of 16 minutes, 56 seconds to place 28th. Aaron Benka (32nd) and John Paul Depew (45) were the other top finishers for Grove City.

York Suburban won the Class AA boys title.

Knoch was fourth, led by Preston Carlsson with a time of 17:02, good enough for 33rd place.

Slippery Rock's Andrew Maxwell was the top area boys finisher, in 13th place with a time of 16:35.

Seneca Valley's Mike Kolor was 23rd in the Class AAA race at 16:24.

On the girls side, Seneca Valley was sixth as a team in the Class AAA race, led by a 20th-place finish by Rachel Hensel (19:10).

Mariah Mack was 23rd (19:13) and Julia Kooser 28th (19:20) for the Raiders.

Knoch was 11th in the Class AA race.

Mandi Moxie placed 25th with a time of 19:52 to become only the second Knoch female runner to earn a medal at the state meet.

In Class A, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic's Rylee Kopchak was 21st with a time of 20:08.
