Perfect season ended for SV

CHAMBERSBURG — Central Bucks East stole Seneca Valley's flair for the dramatic and used it to end the Raiders' perfect season.

Delaney Kennedy scored in overtime to help the Patriots win 2-1 in a Class AAA PIAA quarterfinal girls soccer game Saturday at Trojan Stadium. It was Seneca Valley's third overtime game of the postseason.

Raiders coach Dave Sylvester was proud of his team, which won its second straight WPIAL title this season. Seneca Valley set a program-record for victories by finishing 23-1.

“I just think you have a target on your back and everyone's giving you your best shot,” Sylvester said. “I'm proud of the kids for accomplishing what they did this year.”

Seneca Valley did score first.

Sarah Anderson capitalized on an assist from Emily Wagner in the 31st minute.

Central Bucks East (18-3-2) tied the game in the 51st minute on a goal by Danielle DeMichael.

The Raiders outshot the Patriots 14-13, but missed their opportunities.

“Just scoring the that tying goal,” Sylvester said about what changed the momentum. “We had some good opportunities ourselves, even in regulation and starting into the overtime.”
