Mary V. “Ginny” Zehner Burk, 94, of Cabot, formerly of Gibsonia, passed away Sunday.

Born on Nov. 2, 1920, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Emma Zeigler Zehner. She was also preceded in death by one grandson; her sister, Ida Mae Zehner, and her brother, Frederick N. Zehner.

She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford P. Burk, and the loving mother of Kathleen Ann Charlton of Freedom and Mary Elizabeth Duggan of Monroeville. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Evan and Marissa Charlton, and David, Robert, Emily and Brian Duggan.

A 1942 Nursing School graduate of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Ginny went on to serve her country during World War II in the U.S. Army as an Army nurse.

A longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gibsonia, she was active with the Hope Circle, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Bell Choir. Ginny also was active with the Richland Homemakers.

Burk — The family of Mary V. “Ginny” Zehner Burk, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Pastor Anthony Schneck officiating.
