Doris Wilma Stewart McKee

Doris Wilma Stewart McKee of Butler passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at her home.

She was born on April 28, 1924, at home in Port Vue. She was the oldest daughter of the late John Stewart and Sara Pry.

She grew up in McKeesport and attended McKeesport High School. Wilma had three college scholarship offers, but turned them down for a job at Bell Telephone to help support her family.

Wilma was 24 years old when she married Robert E. McKee. Bob and Wilma met at the First United Presbyterian Church in McKeesport. Theirs is a love that stood the test of time. They dated for four years, then were married for 66 years.

Wilma's favorite times were spent with her family: her three children, Rob, Sharon and Deb; Deb's husband, Tom, and her grandchildren, R.T. and Jordan. She loved spending summers at Chautauqua Institution in New York, playing Scrabble games and listening to music over coffee with her beloved Bob.

She was active in the Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler. There she served as a deacon, sang in the choir and participated in women's circles. She also volunteered at the Arthritis Foundation of Butler County.

She is survived by her younger sister, Ruth Lewis, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Wilma is now reunited with the love of her life.
