BUTLER TWP — A Hosanna! Holiday Celebration is planned for Dec. 6 at the South Butler Fire Hall, 98 Old Plank Road.

The only session will begin at noon; doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The event includes a meal and holiday musical entertainment by Sing Hosanna! vocalists.

Cost is $20 for adults and $7 for children age 10 and younger. Reservations are required by Dec. 3. Call 724-287-8362.

SAXONBURG — Saxonburg will have its annual Christmas parade and light-up activities beginning at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 along Main Street and down North Rebecca Street.The lineup will be behind Dinnerbell Square, behind Dollar General, and the parade will end at Roebling Park.

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Historical Society's 22nd annual Christmas Home Tour will be held Dec. 6.Zelienople area homes decorated in a variety of styles will be opened for guests during the self-drive event.The tour begins at 9 a.m. when maps and brochures are distributed. The starting point and luncheon location will be outlined in the greeting letter.The $22 ticket price includes the tour and a catered luncheon featuring door prizes. Paid reservations are required in advance.Tour tickets are available at Passavant House, 243 S. CHICORA — For the first time in about 20 years, Chicora will have a Light-Up Night with activities planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30, mostly outdoors on West Slippery Rock Street.As the newly-refurbished street lights are illuminated, the town's musical chimes will kick off the fun with Christmas tunes.Children will be treated to a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” face painting, ornament-decorating. Various foods will be available.Other highlights will be performances by Miss Butler County Becca Bly, Karns City students and carolers. A seasonal movie will be shown throughout the evening, and a family-friendly dance will follow inside the Moose Lodge, from 8 to 10 p.m.

NEW YORK CITY — Playwright and former Butler resident Don Orwald will have another one-act play staged at the Roy Arias Studios at 300 W. 43rd St. as part of the Short Play Lab.Orwald's script “Macbeth Abridged” will be part of the program at 9 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.This is the fourth of Orwald's short plays to be staged at such an event. Tickets are $20 at the door.Orwald, who taught English and theater at Knoch High School for 31 years, has had his original work staged not only in New York, but also in St. Paul, Minn., and Dubuque, Iowa, and he won a first place in the Writer's Digest annual competition.Also, several of his works have been staged by the New Works Festival in Pittsburgh.

MONROEVILLE — Three Butler County exhibitors will take part in the 17th annual Greater Pittsburgh Arts & Crafts Holiday Spectacular from Friday through Sunday at the Convention Center, Route 22.Lisa Tracy of Butler, Manuela Branem of Sarver and Harry Pittman of Evans City are scheduled to participate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.Admission is $6 for adults, $5.50 for senior citizens age 65 and older, and $1 for children ages 6 to 12.Call 724-863-4577 for more information.
