Cranberry officials OK preliminary plan

2015 budget keeps property tax level

CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors Wednesday night approved a preliminary $24.3 million 2015 budget.

The preliminary budget keeps the property tax rate set at 13 mills, a level that hasn’t changed for three years.

Eight of those mills will go to the general fund while 2.12 mills will be allocated to the fire company, one mill to the library, one mill to township buildings and .85 mills for road equipment.

The budget includes funds to hire two new full-time police officers and increases funding for the police, public works and parks and recreation departments.

Township manager Jerry Andree said Wednesday he is pleased with the budget.

“The preliminary 2015 budget focuses on improving the township’s infrastructure, maintaining current programs and services while maintaining current tax rates,” he said.

The supervisors will consider a final adoption of the budget at their meeting in December.

This year’s budget is $24.4 million.
