Icy conditions early Saturday morning caused two minor car accidents on the General Richard Butler Bridge in Butler.

The first accident occurred just after 5 a.m. while the second followed about 80 minutes later.

The second accident prompted the city fire department to temporarily close the bridge in both directions for about 15 minutes so state Department of Transportation crews could salt it.

The bridge carries South Main Street over the Connoquenessing Creek.

No injuries were reported in either accident, authorities at the scene said.
