Farmer hurt in accident

His tractor ran over him

CLAY TWP — A township farmer was injured Wednesday morning when his tractor ran over him on his family farm along Hall Road.

Chief Reid Campbell of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department said the farmer, Pete Nobles, was getting off the tractor when his foot knocked the vehicle into gear.

“It went out the barn door with him hanging onto the steering wheel,” Campbell said.

Campbell said after the man fell off the tractor, its rear wheel ran over him.

“It made a 180 degree turn and ran into the barn,” Campbell said.

He said Nobles complained about rib and pelvic pain when emergency services responded to the 9:29 a.m. 911 call.

Nobles was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and transferred to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment.

His condition was unavailable this morning.

Campbell said Nobles was fortunate to not have been pinned by the tractor and receive worse injuries.

However, “he’ll have a long recovery period,” Campbell said.
