Man faces charges in Rt. 68 accident

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A Connoquenessing man is facing charges after allegedly causing a multi-car accident Friday morning on Route 68.

Police said a pickup truck driven by Eric B. Miner, 43, rear ended and sideswiped a car driven by Joseph A. Steighner, 64, of Butler just west of Hindman Lane about 6:15 a.m.

Miner allegedly fled the scene only to have his pickup hit the back of another vehicle moments later at the intersection of Kriess Road, police said.

That collision caused a chain reaction involving three vehicles stopped at the intersection.

The driver of the second vehicle hit, Justin P. Scherer, 35, of Chicora, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with injuries.

The drivers of the other two vehicles, Adam D. Burns, 35, of Chicora and Brant M. Farmery, 24, of Westover, reported minor injuries, according to police.

Police charged Miner with hit and run to attended property and cited him for multiple traffic violations, including following too closely and driving at an unsafe speed.
