Breen's 33 points help CWNC girls to victory

Sam Breen recorded a double-double, finishing with 33 points and 13 rebounds, to help Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic roll to an 87-61 Section 2-A girls basketball win at St. Joseph Thursday evening.

Evelyn Brazil (17 points), Amanda Bucklew (13), Abby Goetz (12) and Kiki Palmer (10) also finished in double figures for the Trojanettes (9-3, 6-1).

McDowell had a slight edge on Freeport in shots at the Belmont Ice Complex.The Yellowjackets were just more efficient in a 10-2 non-section win.The Trojans outshot Freeport (10-4-1) 26-25.Hunter Kepple, who had five goals and an assist, scored both of the Yellowjackets first-period goals. Freeport never slowed down, scoring the game's first five goals.Stone Haberstroh, Tanner Hills, Michael Frazetta, Ethan Waddell and Joel Bednar also scored for the Yellowjackets.

Hempfield defeated Butler 797-53x to 799-55x. Alissa Wulff, Becca Frazier, Luke Montag, Rachel Laughling, Zane Barnett, Emily Black and Bryant Liebler were the Golden Tornado's top shooters.
